Retail Food Establishment Inspection Reports

Report a Suspected Foodborne Illness to Eagle County Environmental Health

  • Call 970-328-8755; OR
  • Complete the Foodborne Illness Form and receive a call back from an Environmental Health Specialist
Please note that with any report or complaint, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed as the complaint must be investigated thoroughly, and all information (expect that which is protected by law such as HIPAA, and contact information) is subject to Open Records laws. Staff will maintain as much discretion as possible while investigating.

New or Remodeled Retail Food Establishments (example: restaurant; grocery)

        Please Note:
       Per the Food Protection Act, construction or remodel of a retail food establishment cannot begin until the plans are approved by EH.
       Contact your local building, planning, fire, water and wastewater authorities regarding any of their respective requirements.
       If you plan to wholesale food, operate as a cottage food vendor, or prepare food containing marijuana, please review the requirements.

Mobile Retail Food Establishments (example: food trucks; pushcarts; kiosks)

         Note: Contact Environmental Health prior to purchasing or constructing a mobile retail food unit.
       Contact local planning and zoning about any requirements or restrictions within the location(s) of the mobile retail food unit.
