July 24, 2023 - The public is invited to hear the debut of Al Maul’s song “Eagle County,” commissioned in honor of Eagle County’s 140th Anniversary celebration.

“I took in as much local history as I could,” said songwriter Al Maul explaining his writing process. “In researching Eagle County, through every story, every group of people, and each different century, I could find one common denominator and it was that so many people came to Eagle County with a dream–a dream to find a fortune in gold, a dream to build a ski mecca, a dream to escape the city, to be closer to nature, a dream to live differently, all with this powerful presence of both the Utes and the 10th Mountain Division soldiers. So the lyrics were written in this spirit.”

On February 11, 1883 Eagle County was created by the Colorado State Assembly and named for the Eagle River. The county has been celebrating this milestone all year with a "Then and Now" photo exhibit, a historical speaker series, and now a commissioned song by local artist Al Maul.

The public is invited to the Riverwalk Band By the River Concert Series to hear the debut of the song.
